She has partnered with scientists, Indigenous leaders, government and corporate authorities, artists and citizens alike, weaving together the strengths of all into a powerful and collaborative force.” The book's chapters offer readers a how-to-manual for understanding, protecting, and enhancing water systems. Themes include: claim your water story, listen to the waters, find your water community, map local waters, and plan and design for resilience. Jane Goodall points out in her foreword: “Threaded throughout the book is the perspective that water must be a human right and that all life is interdependent with water. Betsy has created a “Toolkit” that intends to empower everyone to take steps to understand their waters and organize to protect and restore their waters. This is a very accessible book. It is grounded in practical processes that can enable a community to understand the best local choices for the place they live in." “Betsy Damon shows us that the road to awareness and action always begins with listening and connectivity.” -- ―Julie Reiss, Editor, Art, Theory and Practice in the Anthropocene (2019)
