Waterspirit's Book Club Nov 25
Join Waterspirit's book club as we discuss Thomas Berry's book The Great Work: Our Way into the Future.
DETAILS
Join Waterspirit's Book Club. We meet using Zoom, four times each year to discuss books exploring Spirituality, Nature and Action. Links to the Zoom meeting will arrive via email in your registration confirmation. During this meeting, our group will discuss the book The Great Work by Thomas Berry. In this book Thomas Berry shares a culmination of his ideas and calls us to experience creation as a source of wonder and delight rather than a commodity for our personal use. Berry's message is not one of doom but of hope. He reminds society of its function, particularly the universities and other educational institutions whose role is to guide students into an appreciation rather than an exploitation of the world around them. Berry is the leading spokesperson for the Earth, and his profound ecological insight illuminates the path we need to take in the realms of ethics, politics, economics, and education if both we and the planet are to survive. “…everything has a right to be recognized and revered. Trees have tree rights, insects have insect rights, rivers have river rights, and mountains have mountain rights.” (Thomas Berry, “The Great Work,” in The Great Work, 5).
